This week, we are proud to share Annie’s story.

Annie joined Sendero in our Dallas office in 2023. Prior to that, Annie studied psychology at Texas A&M University. Her consulting experience includes OCM and PMO in the utilities and manufacturing industries.

What led you to Sendero?

I decided I was interested in consulting after taking a professional/personal development class during my junior year of college. After I knew I wanted to be a consultant, I spent time thinking through what I wanted out of a consulting firm: values that resonated with me, a culture of hard work and excellence, and people I would enjoy coming to work with every day. After my interviews, it was evident that Sendero exceeded my expectations, and I accepted my offer shortly thereafter.

What stands out to you about Sendero?

The people make Sendero what it is. Sendero hires high-quality individuals who care deeply and want to provide results for their clients. I am not only surrounded by people who strive for excellence, but people who care about me as a person. I am grateful for coworkers who push me to be my best while also taking the time to know me personally.

What has been your favorite part about being a consultant?

Building relationships with my stakeholders has been one of the most rewarding parts of my current project. From a more specific consulting lens, when I am able to form that stakeholder relationship, people are able to more candidly share their pain points or problems. From there, we can find better solutions and deliver more personal results.

What industries have you worked in?

I have worked in the manufacturing and utilities industries.

Most successful projects are the result of exceptional teamwork. How has your time at Sendero shaped the way you approach being a team member and leader?

Throughout my time at Sendero, I have had the privilege to work on wonderful teams. When working on these teams, I have experienced a wide variety of leadership styles and teammates. One thing that consistently makes teams successful is collaboration and communication. Especially as a project manager, it is essential that every impacted teammate and stakeholder is aware of the current status and an action plan forward.

What has your experience been with our company culture?

Sendero’s culture is unmatched. Anytime I speak with anyone about Sendero, the first thing I say is, “You can’t beat Sendero’s people.” Sendero is full of people who care about you on a personal level. Whether it’s informal mentorship or weekly 1:1s with a manager, Sendero is full of growth opportunities, and it is all because of the individuals who pour into you.

Additionally, one of the things that excited me most about joining Sendero was the ability to give back through a Community Rock, our pro bono consulting program. Being born and raised in Dallas, the idea of giving back to a city that I have lived in my whole life excited me.

What are you looking forward to in the next year, both professionally and personally?

Professionally, I am excited to continue making an impact at my current client while taking on new responsibilities and new opportunities. I am also looking forward to continuing to develop and grow as a consultant. Personally, I just got married and I am thrilled to start my life with my husband! I am also looking forward to traveling this summer and spending time at the lake with family and friends.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone interested in becoming a consultant, what would it be?

My advice would be to approach new projects and experiences with a can-do attitude. With every new project, there is a learning curve, and being able to ask questions and positively take challenges head-on will only contribute to the overall success of your team. With every project, I have asked so many questions to seek understanding, and never once have I been told to stop asking. Asking questions and approaching each task with a positive, can-do attitude will ultimately make you a better consultant and a better teammate.
