THE CHALLENGE
A major golf equipment manufacturer made the decision to expand its organization by purchasing two clothing brands and an “eatertainment” golf and restaurant chain of venues. Following this series of acquisitions, the manufacturing company held multiple brands across 25 countries, each with its own business models, capabilities, and workforces.
Each brand relied on different HCM systems and processes to manage, train, and grow employees. In fact, there were more than 30 payroll systems in use following the acquisitions. The manufacturer identified the need for a new HCM system that could unite the different entities, improve process efficiencies, provide visibility into HR financials, and empower employees to move between legacy companies. The manufacturer contacted Sendero to help identify this HCM solution and to ensure that it could provide a single view of the organization and offer consistency across all acquired brands.
OUR APPROACH
Ensuring that the manufacturer was making the most of their HCM investment was a top priority. To achieve this goal, Sendero’s team deployed their strong package evaluation and selection (PES) approach. This approach includes engaging global stakeholders, customizing and prioritizing HCM requirements, and evaluating vendor candidates.
Following the initial PES research, Sendero facilitated vendor demonstrations with a slate of candidates to further evaluate the capabilities of each potential solution. One unique consideration for this client was the need to manage multiple types of workforces—including employees who are members of manufacturing unions, retail and hospitality employees who are paid hourly, and corporate employees who are paid salaries—through one system. Additionally, the final HCM solution had to be effective across different countries and regions.
To support the manufacturer throughout the vendor selection process, Sendero developed objective criteria based on the required functionality, technical capabilities, support structure, and product usability. Ultimately, these materials empowered the client to make an informed selection about which HCM solution they would implement.
