The Challenge
Revolution Retail Systems (RRS), a leader in the design of cash recycler solutions, serves hotels, large retailers, grocery stores, casinos and airports with their innovative equipment. RRS offers the industry’s largest selection of cash recycler products, which allows their customers to maximize their return on investment by purchasing the right size machine for their environment. The stores’ sales volume, number of registers, and cash handling requirements will determine which model is the best fit for their clients.
With cash still widely used, and the cash recycling industry lightly infiltrated with competitors, RRS is positioned to double their field units by 300% in the next two years. Their current and projected growth, intricate supply chain, and lack of automated processes resulted in poor inventory control. This challenge was directly tied to their ERP, NetSuite, being unable to automatically recognize inventory movement, which greatly impacted invoicing, purchasing, and labor costs. These challenges, as well as the increased demands on team members, highlighted the need for process improvements and documentation to better serve their customers across the country.
Recognized by The Dallas Business Journal as the third fastest growing company in DFW in 2017 (their second consecutive year appearing on the Dallas100), RRS has grown significantly over the past five years and had to rally resources to focus on a high sales demand from new customers. This made it difficult for RRS to keep pace in capturing the incremental business processes needed to support the growth.
Our Approach
After partnering with Sendero on a previous initiative, RSS’s VP and Head of IT reengaged our team to collaborate on solutions that would provide sustainable benefits for the RRS team. Sendero began by conducting interviews with business leaders in Parts and Logistics to better understand stakeholders’ pain points and process roles.
Through two rounds of interviews with the VP and their direct reports, Sendero was able to quickly determine that two key areas in the process required systematic and process improvement changes. We then documented the process to assess challenges, identify areas of opportunity, and recommend best practices – providing comprehensive solutions that help mitigate many of RRS’s growth opportunities.
