Serving Those Who Serve Us
Recently, Sendero Analyst Peter Smith was deployed to Iraq. In response, Senderoans showed their support through Operation: Sendero Cares – in which employees brought in various donations to form care packages and hand-wrote thank you letters to send to Peter’s company. In total, Sendero sent 70 boxes to over 160 troops serving in Iraq from April through October 2017, when Peter returned home.
Does your organization have employees or loved ones serving overseas and want to support them? Here are some quick guidelines to start your own Operation:
What should be sent?
Commonly requested items include:
- Deer and turkey jerky
- Clif bars
- Gum
- 5-Hour Energy
- Ground coffee
- Magazines (sports, fitness, etc.)
- Oatmeal
- Pre-Workout
- MIO water flavor
What are best practices for mailing the items?
- Packaging: Use USPS Military Flat Rate boxes for a discount
- Mix it Up: Make sure to sort the donated goods into the boxes for variety
- Plan Accordingly: Complete customs forms and mailing labels BEFORE going to the post office for efficiency, still allowing plenty of time at the post office
