COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: FALL 2016
At Sendero, giving back to the community is an integral part of who we are as a company. Learn more about our community involvement this past quarter, including our participation in the Corporate Challenge and EFNT’s annual Freedom Day.
Team Sendero made its presence felt at the annual City of Richardson Corporate Challenge, an Olympic-style competition involving nearly 25 athletic and non-athletic events. Our employees competed in table tennis, kickball, basketball, golf, and stretched their legs in the 5K run. In addition, Sendero employees eclipsed their $1,500 fundraising goal with donations and raffle ticket purchases! Sendero’s Special Olympian partner, Cormac Currin, was in attendance cheering on the team for a variety of events throughout the Corporate Challenge, culminating in a fifth-place finish.
In August, our Houston office volunteered at City ArtWorks, a non-profit organization that provides visual art education to Houston-area kids. The team organized supplies into boxes designated for specific art classes, getting the program to a great starting point for the semester. City ArtWorks has a small staff that relies on volunteer help to get supplies ready for each school semester, and Sendero was proud to provide valuable support to the organization during a very busy time of year.
On September 11, 2016, Sendero participated in the 15th annual EFNT Freedom Day, a community service event honoring the lives lost and those forever changed by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. During this event, Sendero served at Hunger Busters, an organization that provides a much-needed third meal of the day to food-insecure children in Dallas Independent School District. Throughout the day, Sendero helped make 3,200 meals alongside three other EFNT Member companies. Overall, more than 600 volunteers came together to work on service projects across the DFW area. A big thank you to all who participated this year!
On September 10, Sendero joined the American Heart Association for its 2016 Dallas Heart Walk. The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers—heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family.
